RE: downtown streetscape – grant agreement
On February 9, 2010 City Council approved Resolution 10-10 authorizing a full application for Community Development Block Grant funds for the State & Main streetscape project in the amount of $436,090. The local share is $48,455. The project work scope consists of undergrounding overhead utility lines, construction of walkways, seat walls, hardscapes, landscapes, and public restroom.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation recently approved the project and signed the grant agreement on March 2, 2010. If accepted by the City, the term of agreement will expire on January 31, 2012.
I believe this project will enhance downtown Hart, promote more visits and longer stays, and encourage additional public and private investment.
I recommend City Council accept the grant offer in the amount of $436,090. Please adopt Resolution 10-21.
